Seafood Summertime: Our New Menus Launch

The versatility and appeal of seafood is perfect for this time of year and where better place to enjoy it than at Brighton’s most iconic seafood restaurant, either on the terrace (if the weather holds!) or inside our unique dining rooms.

To launch our new Summer Menus, we’ve picked some new and classic dishes for taste testing and wine pairing, and so our customers can see what’s ‘cooking’ with the English’s staff.

And here’s what we chose…

Plaice

First up is a firm customer and staff favourite, a simple, yet exquisite dish. Grilled plaice. Simply glorious! With its soft ivory white, juicy texture and slight peppery taste it pairs perfectly with a glass of chilled, crisp Chardonnay.

Moules-Mariniere

Next for the taste test we have the classic, Mussel “Mariniėres” with shallot, garlic, white wine, cream, thyme. This timeless classic is now available as a main on the set menu as well as on the à la carte. Best enjoyed with a bright, zingy Muscadet for maximum pleasure.

Tuna-steak

If you’re a fan of meaty fish, how about Tuna steak, salsa verde? Light and juicy, creamy, buttery, salty, savoury… delicious! Pairs beautifully with either a Sauvignon Blanc or Chablis.

Basil-pasta

Looking for an alternative to seafood? The last main on the list is a flavourful vegetarian dish: Basil pasta, sundried tomato sauce, burrata, chilli oil, toasted pine nuts, smoked ricotta, enjoy with a grassy Sauvignon Blanc.

Sorbet

To finish, we have a light, refreshing strawberry sorbet, something perfect to cleanse and delight the palate.
